Spreading Torah with Diligence and Devotion
The Cherry Hill Community Kollel opened in the year 2000 with a core group of young scholars who immediately began their mission of enhancing their own Torah study in an ideal setting while simultaneously influencing fellow community members through their learning and teaching.
For the Kollel members themselves, the atmosphere boosted their learning greatly. With no distractions in their way, they found an ideal location to advance their studies and blossom into distinguished Talmidei Chachomim.

In the smaller, more intimate setting of Cherry Hill, the talents and strengths of the young men shone through. Indeed, many of the original group eventually took up leadership positions in the Torah world.
A number of years ago, the esteemed Rosh Kollel, Rabbi Yona Klahr, and a number of Kollel families established their full-time residences in Cherry Hill. The effect of having Rabbi Klahr and the Kollel members residing in Cherry Hill has been tremendous. Strong friendships between families have been created. Bonds of Torah have been strengthened. And Cherry Hill has become a model of the power of unadulterated Torah study on a community.
It goes without saying that the impact of the Kollel has gone well beyond its full-time members. Rav Nosson Vachtfogel zt”l, the late Mashgiach of Lakewood Yeshiva, told the Kollel members, “Torah sells
itself! Focus on the learning, and people will come!” This message has proven clairvoyant, as from the time that the Kollel opened its doors, Jewish residents of Cherry Hill began to make their way there to
discover learning opportunities for themselves. Men, teenagers, and even children now flock to Cherry Hill Community Kollel to spend time learning and attending classes with the accomplished scholars
who warmly welcome them into the Kollel family.
Entire families have been transformed through the power of Torah. Men with little or no previous Torah education have grabbed the opportunity to grow in their knowledge. Teenagers have been inspired to become yeshiva students. Children are being raised in a Torah environment. And Cherry
Hill has become a bastion of Ruchnius. Torah was the magnetic force that drew in all these people and changed their lives.
Today, one can enter the Kollel at any time of day, from 6am until late at night, and find groups of men immersed in the age-old study of the Talmud on the highest level. This dedication to learning is what
makes the Cherry Hill Community Kollel into a center of learning in an ever growing community. With the growth of the Cherry Hill Jewish community continuing unabated, the Kollel family continues to grow in tandem. With 10 dedicated yungeleit currently learning and teaching in the Kollel, the future looks bright. The Kollel’s 23 years of influencing lives through Torah study and its commitment to a glorious future continues, B'ezras Hashem.
